From New Orleans to Ithaca through Cyberspace: A Virtual Concert

Enjoy a concert by the accomplished duo Julie Benko (Broadway actress/singer) and Jason Yeager (jazz pianist and composer), coming to you live via Zoom from their home in New York City.  They will perform and talk about selections from the Great American Songbook, swing-era tunes, popular music, and traditional New Orleans jazz. And for good measure, they’ll include two Cornell tunes to which you can sing along.

The 75 minute concert will start at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 12.  Registrants will receive an email with the Zoom link. The concert is free, but voluntary donations will be greatly appreciated by Jason and Julie.

About the Performers:

Broadway actress/singer Julie Benko and jazz pianist/composer Jason Yeager are a musical partnership - Julie has appeared in multiple Broadway musicals, including as Cosette in the national tour of Les Miserables at the Boston Opera House. She also performed in Fiddler on the Roof on Broadway, in the national tour of Spring Awakening at the Colonial Theatre, and in numerous regional productions.

Jason has performed in New York City at Carnegie Hall, Smalls, and the Blue Note, as well as internationally.  He recently released his fifth album as a bandleader, "New Songs of Resistance.”  A native of Framingham, Jason has performed in Boston at the Berklee Performance Center, Jordan Hall, and The Mad Monkfish.

Jason and Julie have appeared together at numerous Boston area establishments, including the Regattabar in Cambridge and Bella Costa Restaurant in Framingham.

Both Julie and Jason are committed educators, with Jason teaching piano at Berklee College of Music and at their home studio, and Julie teaching voice. The pair currently lives in New York City with their tuxedo rescue cat, Thelonious Monk (aka "Monkey the Cat").  Monkey is a passionate fish-eater, avid sleeper, and enjoys walking across the piano keys at unexpected times, often during their home concerts.
